There are two really good simulators that I use. The first is investopedia.com. This one is great because you can sell short and buy ands sell options. The site is also a great educational tool. If you are just getting started, I recommend this site.

The other site is marketocracy.com. This one is great if you are focused on portfolio management. It will break down your funds statistics giving you it’s alpha, beta, R-squared, the industries that you are concentrated in, and will show you a chart comparing your performance to the S&P, Dow and NASDAQ. It’s a great site with some great tools, but if you are just getting started, it will not mean much.

    Good luck.

My site is still under construction but if you are a complete beginner
there is enough there to be getting on with.

I will be adding content as quickly as time permits me to create it so it
should be a good way to learn if you follow the updates.

The very first person to encourage me told me to start with $25 or $50 dollars. And, I think others will agree with the premise of just starting.

I started with the brokerage Buy and Hold .com which will let you buy incremental shares and the commission cost is very reasonable. I would look at Share Builder as well as a broker candidate.

The other great thing is that just getting started with what you have will give you the time to improve your stock investing or trading knowledge and experience.

I also have a new educational stock trading website that is free, I don’t have anything to sell and there are no ads on the website. I recently added a new page, “The Beginner Investor’s Simplified Guide to How to Invest in Stocks” and it is a good overview of what stock trading entails so that may help you with your trading too.

The terrific thing is that you’re ready to begin. Best of luck!!
